Spanish Quarter

It stands on the northern spur of the mountain that dominates the whole of the Erice countryside. The robust construction was begun in the 17th century to house a garrison of Spanish soldiers, but was never completed.

Votive deposits with oil lamps and other terracotta objects have been found on the opposite floor.It is therefore believed that in pre-Christian times the area was linked to the cult of the goddess Ericina.
