Pepoli Tower
In Moorish style, it was built around 1870 at the behest of Count Agostino Pepoli (1848-1911), a scholar and patron. In those years, it was a meeting place for men of culture and artists such as the man of letters Ugo Antonio Amico, the musicologist Alberto Favara, the archaeologist Antonino Salinas and the minister Nunzio Nasi. After restoration work completed in July 2014, the Torretta serves as a permanent Peace Observatory and Lighthouse of the Mediterranean.
It houses an interactive multimedia museum offering a journey through the history, culture, myth and tradition of the characters and the city of Erice narrated by the voice of Count Pepoli himself.
