St. Albert Church

According to tradition, it was founded as early as 1371, and is among the first to be erected in honour of the saint who died in 1307.In 1423 it is documented as having already existed for some time.
The Compagnia dei Bianchi, to which only men of proven nobility could be admitted, took over its patronage from its foundation in 1568.

The originally very small church was enlarged in 1646. It was rebuilt at the end of the 18th century and adorned with neo-classical stucco work in 1794.

In the 'big chapel' rises the majestic high altar, made of polychrome marble in 1654 by the priest D. Francesco Scuderi. In the central niche is the titular St. Albert. Since the church had been closed for several decades, the marble statue was moved to the churchyard of St. Julian's in the 1950s. It has recently returned to its original location.
